Conference of Social Responsibility

The Conference of Social Responsibility aims to strengthen the transfer between Fachhochschule Dortmund and civil society engagement in Dortmund. To this end, we invite Dortmund aid organizations every year to discuss specific joint implementation measures.

4th CoSR Conference of Social Responsibility "Democracy Unpromptable - Volunteering is here to stay!"

Date: 09.10.2026

Location: Society Casino (in the Hotel Mercure), Betenstraße 18, 44137 Dortmund

Time: 09.30 - 15.30 (program to follow)

Topic of the CoSR 2026

Democracy unpromptable - the commitment remains! (We are still working on the final program!)

After our exchange in 2025, where we provided initial impetus for cooperation between universities and social actors as part of the Transfer Day of the HAW in NRW, we want to deepen this dialog in 2026. How can we join forces to consolidate and further develop democratic structures?

Democracy is not a sure-fire success. It thrives on participation, dissent and the joint struggle for solutions. Under the title "Democracy unpromptable - the commitment remains!", the 4th Conference of Social Responsibility is dedicated to the question of how we can effectively strengthen democracy today - through the transfer between science and civil society. We would like to focus on two topics:

  • On the one hand, the increasing political pressure from the right on NGOs and science and the question of how we can deal with this together in order to sustainably preserve and strengthen democracy.
  • Secondly, we would like to discuss the positive and negative effects of AI on civil society engagement.

The 4th CoSR will also be a preparatory event for 2027. We are planning to integrate the 5th CoSR into the HBdV(Opens in a new tab)  's annual conference. The university network Bildung durch Verantwortung e.V. works at the interface between civil society and academia. We are looking forward to hosting the annual conference as Fachhochschule Dortmund in 2027.

"Our aim with the "Dein Engagement" platform is to address students as potential volunteers and to create low-threshold access to volunteering opportunities in Dortmund."
