Seven questions for Jana Borghardt

Veröffentlicht

Jana Borghardt studied Business Studies at the Faculty of Business Studies. Because she liked it so much at Fachhochschule Dortmund, she now works in the Department of University Communication.

Which company do you work for?

I work in university communications at the Fachhochschule Dortmund.

What is your job?
I coordinate the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship, which supports students who perform well. The scholarship is made up of funds from private sponsors and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

What does your typical working day look like?
As the funding year consists of different work phases, there is no typical working day. My tasks include looking after scholarship holders and sponsors and working with the faculties. In the summer, I take care of the scholarship application process.

What moments do you particularly appreciate in your job?
I appreciate the moments when the scholarship holders have been allocated to the donors and they are happy with their selection. I also look forward to the annual scholarship ceremony and am always very relieved when it goes off to everyone's satisfaction.

What is your superpower?
I don't think my superpower is a superpower. I think I am a helpful and friendly person.

How did your career start go and what is your tip for our students?
My career start went very smoothly. As I had already worked as a student assistant at Fachhochschule Dortmund before I was permanently employed, I was familiar with the structures. I also received a very warm welcome from the team and was trained very well. I'm really lucky with my position. Students should get to know the company in question in advance and present themselves openly. Contact with colleagues and good teamwork are important.

What is your best memory from your time studying at Fachhochschule Dortmund?
Holding my degree in my hand was one of the best memories. I would also like to mention the good support I received during my pregnancy while studying. They took good care of me and looked after me.
