Graduation ceremony at the Faculty of Architecture

Published

After a good four-year break due to the coronavirus, the Faculty of Architecture once again hosted a graduation ceremony for its Bachelor's and Master's students. The alumni of the winter semester 2023/24 were honored.

Chancellor Svenja Stepper opened the ceremony as a special guest on April 11, 2024 in the faculty's lecture hall on the Emil-Figge-Straße campus. Based on her personal guiding principle of lifelong learning, Svenja Stepper motivated the graduates to always remain curious and open and to continue to use the creativity developed during their studies.

Prof. Ralf Dietz, Vice Dean of the faculty, welcomed the graduates and their families with a humorous speech and congratulated the young architects together with the Chancellor on successfully completing their studies. Graduate Sascha Becker proved to be an eloquent talent, who gave the guests a charming insight into his time as a student. Of the 34 Bachelor's and Master's graduates in total, 22 attended the certificate ceremony in person. The evening was hosted by lecturer and student advisor Eva Paar.

Exhibition in the foyer

After the official part, the ceremony continued with a champagne reception and the opening of the traditional exhibition of works in the faculty foyer. 16 graduation works were on display on the galleries and in the head rooms. In addition to fellow students, family members and friends, some external guests from the surrounding architecture firms and cooperation partners also attended the exhibition. The new graduates also had the opportunity to talk shop with some of their former fellow students.

To capture the memories of this special evening, Janine Bruder, Alumni Representative from the Department of University Communication, was on site with a photo box. Here, graduates were able to have their photo taken with the other visitors and take away a very personal souvenir. The event came to a successful conclusion with music and a good atmosphere.
