Department IV - Facility Management is responsible for creating optimal structural and technical building conditions for teaching and research. The tasks include planning, financing, construction and operation, maintenance, refurbishment, service and the entire field of occupational safety. We take care of all matters relating to the land, buildings, areas and rooms of Fachhochschule Dortmund at all locations.

  • Objective: To increase the university’s resilience, maintain critical processes, and minimize negative impacts on teaching, research, administration, and reputation.

Departments

Commercial and infrastructural facility management

Commercial Facility Management is part of Department IV Facility Management and is responsible for the commercial management of the buildings.
Our department manages the entire locking system for all buildings at Fachhochschule Dortmund. We are also responsible for mobile phone matters, ordering materials and repairs, the university's control system and other contractual matters such as electricity, water, etc.

We also help with parking matters, lost property, minor alterations and renovation work.

Planning, construction, occupational safety

The Planning, Construction, Occupational Safety department is part of Department IV Facility Management and is responsible for all major planning and construction measures at the university and the area of occupational safety.

From planning a building to financing and construction, we take care of all major construction matters at the university. This also includes the organization, coordination and implementation of construction measures in existing buildings as well as their maintenance and repair.

Occupational Safety advises and supports the university management and executives as well as employees in occupational health and safety, accident prevention, the design of office, laboratory and workshop workstations, waste disposal and all fire safety issues.

Technical facility management

Technical Facility Management is part of Department IV Facility Management and has technical responsibility for the proper operation of the buildings at the three locations.

In addition to all electrical (e.g. general power supply, telephone, lightning protection and fire alarm technology) and mechanical (e.g. drinking water supply, air conditioning, ventilation and heating technology) systems, our area of responsibility also includes the central services of the janitorial department (e.g. traffic safety, locking service, care of the outdoor facilities).

This area of responsibility includes ensuring the legally prescribed operation, rectifying faults and technical defects, as well as monitoring and implementing technical conversions

Location development and climate protection

The Campus Development and Climate Protection Division is part of Department IV, Facility Management, and is responsible for the sustainable and forward-looking development of the university campus. It brings together the three areas of campus development, climate protection management, and energy management.
