During the orientation event “GO!2FH – Get Oriented!”, you’ll receive information about immigration regulations. We’ll introduce you to key contacts who will be important to you during your studies. Academic advisors will guide you through your faculties and provide tips and tricks for a successful academic experience at Fachhochschule Dortmund.

Anyone who decides to study in Germany—and thus spend an extended period of time in a new country—should also familiarize themselves with cultural differences and ways of life. This makes living together much easier and helps you avoid jumping to conclusions in certain situations. That’s why the International Office invites you to a one-day intercultural training session as part of the “GO!2FH – Get Oriented!” orientation program.

The event will be conducted in German. English-language master’s programs offer their own orientation sessions for their students. Please contact the program administration for more information.

The “GO!2FH – Get Oriented!” orientation day in German usually takes place during the week before lectures begin for the respective semester.

If you think of "typical German", it doesn't take long to think of punctuality and a high work ethic. In addition, the women like to wear "dirndls", the men drink a lot of beer and everyone sorts their garbage. Is that really true?

InterKulTreff is our monthly event series in cooperation with the General Students' Committee (AStA) for all students who want to explore Dortmund and the surrounding area together, make new intercultural contacts, improve their language skills, get to know other cultures and experience unforgettable moments together!

Our diverse Festival of Cultures takes place twice a year, in summer and winter. On this evening, our international students take center stage: whether with songs, poems, dances or cultural stalls with food from all over the world - it is up to our students to decide how they want to participate.

Are you enrolled in a Master's degree program at Fachhochschule Dortmund or TU Dortmund University? Would you like to make contact with Germans or German families and get to know the region and your new home better? Then the senior mentoring program for international Master's students is a great offer for you!

The "Talk and More" language café is a monthly meeting place for our students where you can improve and practise various (foreign) language skills and learn new languages. While playing fun games, you can exchange ideas with your fellow students in different languages and make new contacts. Come and join in!

Have you always wanted to visit Berlin, the capital of Germany? Would you like to take part in a cultural excursion to Berlin? With the International Office and the Auslandsgesellschaft NRW, international students can make this dream come true! Come join us!

Since 2008, Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts has held the International Week at the beginning of the winter semester, which is organized by the International Office in cooperation with the faculties. At this event, we expect international guests, including those from our partner universities, who would like to get to know the university better and make contact with students and university staff.
