Internship exchange at Heisenberg-Gymnasium

Published

On March 20, the internship exchange for ninth-grade students at Heisenberg-Gymnasium took place. Information stands in the assembly hall presented the young people with opportunities for work experience at school. Fachhochschule Dortmund was represented by the StudyScouts and the FabLab .

Through playful impulses from the StudyScouts, the pupils were able to gain a low-threshold insight into studying at the university. The study programs ranged from architecture, film and communication design to social work and medical informatics - so there was something for everyone.

From the architecture of the Leonardo Bridge

Constructing a stable and functioning round bridge from 40 wooden planks in miniature? The Faculty of Architecture(Opens in a new tab)  's information table made it possible. Despite initial frustration, the pupils managed to understand how the leverage forces work with the help of clear instructions. The specially built Leonardo bridge caused quite a stir among the pupils.

How do I apply for a design degree program?

The students were able to gain inspiration and ideas on how to apply for the Communication Design(Opens in a new tab)  and Film study programs by browsing through successful application portfolios. From individual photographs to the design of magazines - the broad diversity of the Faculty of Design was illustrated.

Robots in computer science

"These aren't the droids you're looking for!" - That's right! Instead, there were two Lego robots on the activity table that could be controlled by the pupils using an iPad. Between polar bears and fir trees, they went left and right across the large course - all the while learning introductory computer science(Opens in a new tab)  skills.

Social work: I feel something you don't see

Being present with all senses in order to respond sensitively to the needs of others was trained at the action table of the Social Work(Opens in a new tab)  study program. There, the students were able to train their sensitivity at various sensory boxes.

3D printing with the FabLab

The FabLab's portable 3D printer gave the students an insight into the modern printing process - a successful internship opportunity in which many new experiences were made and impulses provided. The StudyScouts and the FabLab wish you every success in your search for an internship!
