About the project
About the project Against the background of the internationalization strategy adopted by Fachhochschule Dortmund in 2022, the International Career Service is aimed at prospective international students who wish to study in German, as well as enrolled international students - especially in Bachelor's degree programmes - and international graduates. The aim is to increase the proportion of degree-seeking students at the university and to provide them with a tailor-made offer to prepare them for their studies and the job market. In this way, the International Career Service makes an important contribution to securing skilled workers in Germany and especially in Dortmund. Located in the International Office, the International Career Service works closely with the Central Student Advisory Services (ZSB), the Career Service and the university's faculties. It is also building up an external network with subject-related partners and representatives of regional Business Studies. The long-term plan is to consolidate the project with the help of internal university funding. Study preparation (fold out) In order to attract international prospective students and pupils to a German-language Bachelor's degree program, the existing structures of the Central Student Advisory Services (ZSB) are supplemented by target group-specific offers and preparatory information events, workshops and German courses are offered. Study support (fold out) In order to promote the successful completion of the degree course, the International Career Service offers advice and courses on study-related and residence law topics as well as the development of soft skills during the introductory phase. In the further course of their studies, students can gradually prepare for their career entry in Germany with the help of networking events, an online job market, job shadowing programs, application training or language courses. Transition structures into the job market (fold out) Alumni of the university have the opportunity to take advantage of career coaching after starting work. They can also register in the alumni network and get involved in a buddy mentoring program for enrolled students, which allows them to stay connected to the university in the long term.
