Vortrag im Rahmen von "KI & Wir: Verstehen, Erleben, Diskutieren" der VHS Dortmund

The VHS Dortmund, in cooperation with the Fachhochschule Dortmund, invites you to the event “AI & Us: Understand, Experience, Discuss,” and will continue the current discussion on the societal impacts of AI, create a space for hands-on experiences with AI, and thus make the topic of artificial intelligence more tangible and accessible to all interested citizens.

What is AI beyond the buzzword, and how does it work?
How does AI affect us as individuals and as a society?
And what do we want to be able to do with the help of AI applications?
It is clear that artificial intelligence has already become part of our everyday lives. AI is a key technology for shaping the future in an increasingly digitized world. The goal of the event is to address the needs and requirements of people around the world. This includes showing customers learning paths for the individual development of future-relevant skills and actively supporting them so they can participate in the digital transformation in an informed, self-determined, and empowered manner. On November 11, we’ll explore artificial intelligence through a keynote address, a variety of presentations, and panel discussions—all witty, informative, entertaining, and guaranteed to feature real people. We’ve invited researchers, artists, AI experts, and companies with practical experience.

To kick off the event, Dr. Matthias Begenat will speak about the changes in society in the age of AI. He is the Head of Science Communication at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS) in Bochum.

The discussion will then turn to how the world of work is changing due to AI and the value of creative work, given that ideas, concepts, and products—which require significant energy to train AI systems but relatively little time on the part of users—can now be generated with a simple click of the mouse. Here, Pamela C. Scorzin, Professor of Art History and Visual Culture at the Fachhochschule Dortmund, and Marina Klostermann, from the AI Research Group at the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA, Dortmund), will welcome you to two parallel lectures/workshops.
