On 29.09.2023, the schoolyard of Anne-Frank-Gesamtschule was a hive of activity organized by Quatiersmanagement Dortmund-Nordstadt. The pupils enjoyed culinary specialties, live music, information stands and fun hands-on activities by the StudyScouts.
As students at Fachhochschule Dortmund, the StudyScouts provide practical insights into the courses on offer(Opens in a new tab) at eye level. Through low-threshold teaching methods, pupils experience science up close and develop an idea of life at the university.
Social work: pulling together
Numerous groups of pupils proved to be strong teams in the Teamspirit Lifter. With the help of the Teamspirit Lifter, relatively large wooden building blocks can be stacked on top of each other. The motto is: the higher, the better! The difficulty: the building blocks are lifted and transported using a thread system. Each team member literally has the strings in their hands to control the joint tower construction. The social work game was well received, as successes were cheered loudly in the school playground.
Communication design: Stamp campaign
During the stamping activity, the pupils created unique stamps from small blocks of wood and twine. Dip them in paint once, press them onto the paper and the unique artwork was finished!
Computer science: Robot race track
The journey is the reward - as was the case with the robot race track. The task here was to program the small robots precisely so that they could skilfully avoid obstacles. The small obstacles were previously produced in 3D printers in the FabLab(Opens in a new tab) and were then placed on the racetrack in the form of little hats or a miniature version of Hogwarts. How many steps the robots take, when they turn in which direction - all of this has to be thought through and decided before the journey. Numerous spectators gathered around the race track to cheer on the young programmers.
