Material World +

Fast facts

About the project

The materiality, form, function and aesthetics of building materials play a more important role than ever in 21st century architecture.

In the "MATERIAL WORLD+" project, over 100 individual material samples were created as a result of the practical exercise of the Building Materials Technology 1 course in the winter semester 2021/2022.

The task of the semester-accompanying practical exercise was to deal with material as both a construction and design component. The students analysed the technical data of the building material/product-specific properties of a material of their choice, procured a material sample in the specified dimensions and individualized it according to their own design ideas with the support of employees Daniel Horn and Paul-Andreas Maurer.

The aim was to train perception for a better understanding in later practical working life and to raise awareness of the versatility of materials and the different possible applications of building materials.
