The Düsseldorf Theater der Klaenge had to postpone the premiere of its cabaret revue "hoppla, wir spielen noch" in December due to corona. The ensemble used the forced break until this week's possible premiere date at the Düsseldorfer Komödie to record the songs and dance music composed especially for this revue creation in the recording studio and to press a CD from them. The CD for the revue will be released at the same time as the premiere on Thursday, April 21, 2022.

Like the revue, the musical pieces on the CD, which can be heard live during the performances, are based on the style of cabaret revue songs popular in the 1920s, as composed by Kurt Weill, Hans Eisler and Friedrich Hollaender at the time: with cheeky, contemporary German lyrics, not sung by perfect voices, but by actors, often a capella.

Dance music that is rhythm-driven and provides a perfect foundation for the "dance numbers". But not imitating the time, the genre or the instrumentation of the 1920s, but electronically recorded contemporary backings for the solo, duo or choral voices of the ensemble.

11 pieces, mostly composed by the Düsseldorf composers Michael Scheibenreiter and J.U. Lensing, but also songs that were developed, written and sung by the acting ensemble, determine the titles of the revue and the CD.
