Content

Beginning with a brief insight into the physical principles, the textbook concentrates on technical aspects from the user's point of view. The focus is on analyzing passive electrical circuits using modern computer-aided methods. With the help of circuit diagrams, readers are given an initial insight into the representation of electrical networks and their mathematical description using Kirchhoff's rules and Ohm's law. Particular attention is paid to the treatment of alternating current technology. Direct current technology is considered as a special case of alternating current technology. The mathematics program "Octave" is used to calculate the examples and work through the exercises.

For the new edition, the compact textbook has been expanded to include a chapter on switch-on and transient processes. The analytical solution of the occurring linear differential equations is discussed. One focus is on the derivation and application of algorithms for iterative solutions with Octave.
