From FH bachelor's degree to master's degree in teaching at vocational colleges
For several years now, there has been an enormous shortage of teachers at industrial-technical vocational colleges. Particularly in the fields of electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and automotive engineering, forecasts by the Ministry of Schools and Education of North Rhine-Westphalia indicate that the demand for teachers will not be met in the next 10 years. Due to this development, Fachhochschule Dortmund, together with university cooperation partners, has created pathways for engineers to enable a smooth transition into teaching at vocational colleges.
- University of Siegen: Master's study program "Teaching profession at vocational colleges (BK)"
Since the summer semester of 2015, graduates of the mechanical engineering, automotive engineering and electrical engineering bachelor's degree programs at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts have been able to transfer to the "Teaching at Vocational Colleges (BK)" master's degree program at the University of Siegen. In addition to a full-time Master's degree course (4 semesters), a career-integrated Master's degree course (6 semesters including work at BK) can also be taken up there.
- Dortmund University of Technology: Master's study program "Vocational Training - Mechanical / Electrical Engineering"
Since summer 2016, a cooperation agreement between Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and TU Dortmund University has enabled Bachelor's graduates of mechanical engineering, automotive engineering and electrical engineering to transfer to the Master's degree program "Vocational Training - Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering" without any additional requirements.
During the engineering Bachelor's study programs at Fachhochschule Dortmund, it is also possible to take additional didactic, educational science and practical courses on a voluntary basis. These modules can be used as orientation or as early Master's courses.
Later fields of application are all areas of vocational education - vocational colleges (vocational school, vocational college, higher secondary vocational school, higher vocational school, technical college) as well as the organization of training and further education in companies.
