M. Hunecke, A. Toprak, A. Ziesenitz, N. Keskin, and G. Mendzheritskiy, "Recommendations for action to empower migrants for environmental and climate protection," 2014.
Content
The recommendations for action formulated here are based on the results of the representative survey, the in-depth interviews, the evaluations of the four model projects and the experience of practitioners who advised the BMBF-funded EMIGMA project during its three-year term (2010 - 2013) and with whom expert interviews were also conducted on specific issues. The aim is to support actors from migrant organizations (e.g. mosque associations, Alevi communities, parents' associations, women's associations, Russian and Turkish cultural associations), environmental protection organizations (e.g. BUND, Greenpeace, NABU), companies (e.g. consumer advice centers, municipal utilities, transport companies) and other institutions in spreading the idea of sustainability in the Turkish and Russian communities. The aim is to raise awareness of climate and environmental protection among Turkish and Russian-speaking migrants and motivate them to change their behavior and become involved in environmental protection at an institutional level. Furthermore, the recommendations for action address the various levels of administration and politics and show where framework conditions should be designed in such a way that they support migrant and environmental protection organizations in their climate and environmental protection work. Be it through appropriate project tenders or direct financial support.
