Working abroad

Fachhochschule Dortmund sees itself as a university where internationality can be experienced and lived. International staff exchanges at European universities and in foreign companies are therefore an integral part of staff development.

The aims of the Staff Exchange

  • Active contribution to the internationalization process of science and administration at our university of applied sciences.
  • Professional exchange on administrative processes in your own field of work.
  • By "running along" or "looking over the shoulders" of foreign colleagues who work in similar structures, the aim is to gain insights into their work processes and, if possible, to gain new ideas for your own work at home.
  • Personal development (e.g. intercultural competence and foreign language skills).

Mobility formats

Mobility for further education and training purposes (at a partner university or at corresponding companies/institutions abroad) can take place in the following formats:

UAS lecturers and employees report on their experiences abroad

"I would recommend anyone to apply". Johanna Munkelt, librarian at Fachhochschule Dortmund, describes her experience of taking part in an Erasmus+ Staff Exchange in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
"Getting to know each other personally and deepening partner contacts is our main motivation and the greatest added value," say Reinhild Schultz-Fölsing, International Relations Officer, and Anne Krainz, research assistant at the Faculty of Architecture, about their staff mobilities to date.
"The Staff Mobilities enabled us to really get to know the partner universities and local contacts and we can now counsel our students even better," say Ana Isabel Martín Ibanéz and Miguel Ángel Sánchez López, English and Spanish lecturers at the Faculty of Business Studies, summing up their stays abroad (Staff Exchange) in Madrid and Zaragoza, Spain.
