CSR
The abbreviation CSR stands for "Corporate Social Responsibility" and refers to the responsibility of companies and organizations for their impact on society. This responsibility encompasses ecological, economic and social aspects. The terms CSR and sustainability are often used interchangeably, but their focus is different. CSR is a narrower concept and refers to the specific contribution that companies or organizations make in their context to global sustainability or sustainable development.
Social responsibility
As a university, we have a special responsibility to society. The relevant tasks and topics include
- the education of students
- the organization of teaching
- the selection of research projects
- the conditions of the working world
- the cooperation between university members
- the impact on the region
- the handling of resources
Since January 2024, Fachhochschule Dortmund has been the first public welfare-oriented university in North Rhine-Westphalia. With this orientation, we have set out to promote the sustainable development of the university.
We want to contribute to transformative change in the areas of teaching, research, operations and transfer in line with the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. The CSR Office is the service unit that helps others to make their sustainable work more visible by presenting it in sustainability reports or supporting its transfer to society. At the same time, the CSR Office aims to enable all members of the university to participate in and shape the process.
The CSR Office is also an implementation unit when it comes to climate protection, environmental, energy and mobility management.
Fachhochschule Dortmund is part of the NRW 2030 climate-neutral state administration and the CSR Office is its point of contact for questions about the process.
We are on the road all year round with our mobile sustainability office Soffi on the three campuses of the UAS to stay in touch with you. Subscribe to our newsletter "Hummelfisch", contact us, we look forward to the exchange.
